Sometimes, things that look bad first up, turn out to have a golden lining. When I arrived at our holiday accommodation I realized we had very poor reception and no WIFI!

The good side to that was that I could spend quality time with my family with less distraction. On occasion I took advantage of the free WIFI at the local Sports club alongside a cold beer to keep up with email, and other commitments.

An added bonus was some time to enjoy writing again.

I’ve not written a blog since May when I went away on my big trip.

I have kept up with writing my newsletter, and making facebook posts, but my blog writing had come to a stand still.

I decided some time ago, I didn’t want to feel overworked and under- relaxed, the I’m so busy brag was not for me. I set out to create a lifestyle where I could have this blend of all the best things that I really want in my life; setting the intention for meaningful work that I love, time for family and friends, taking opportunities for travel and adventure, time in the day to devote to wellbeing –  exercise, rest, learning new things and doing stuff I enjoy such as gardening, creative time, and having space for myself to enjoy just being.

I am enjoying creating and living that lifestyle. My business grows and as everything good expands I find my self juggling all the fabulous things I so want to do and trying to squeeze them into the week. Not a bad place to be I know, but remember I’m done being “busy” so it’s about sorting through all these much loved activities, identifying my priorities, and changing the parameters of how I spend my time.

It’s a call to reassess and to reset, – what’s important, – how I schedule those important things into my week. I will go through and look at the main areas of my work such as client time – coaching, meetings, writing, communication and marketing. I will schedule my week to include each of these areas and ensure I include my key priorities and some time to play.

With reflection on how I choose to spend my time I realize the need to press the pause button more often. That’s some thing that’s gone missing over the past couple of months, as work activities and other commitments have taken over I have forgotten to take time to just pause. This is time devoted to just be, to reflect, and explore.

Life is like a cocktail, and sometimes you have to adjust the mix. Too much hard stuff and you will lose your senses, too much sweet stuff and maybe it’s not meaningful enough, too many ingredients and you get too busy to enjoy each flavour. Drink it slowly and you can relish and enjoy all it has to offer.
