Mental Health Awareness Week highlights the significance of mental well-being in our lives.
Mental health is an integral aspect of wholistic well-being
and just as we look after our physical health by sleeping or being active, we can prioritize self-care and well-being to promote and foster our mental health and resilience.
These three practices and strategies we can do on a regular basis can promote our resilience and will help us to navigate tough times.
1. Practice gratitude: Tune into what’s good in your life. Find three good things that have happened to you each day, you may like to write them down. Make it intentional and deliberate and an ongoing effort to tune into what’s good in your world.
2. Acceptance – Focus on the things you can change and find a way to accept the things you can’t. Develop supportive thinking, show self- compassion and self-kindness, and ask yourself is what you are thinking and doing helping or harming you. Put yourself in the drivers’ seat and make decisions that are right for you.
3. Ask for help when you need it. Seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness, a sign of self-respect and a commitment to growth.
Mental health and personal growth are closely intertwined. This is an opportunity to identify areas of personal growth that can positively impact on your mental health. This might involve improving communication skills, setting boundaries, enhancing self-awareness. developing supportive thoughts, cultivating a growth mindset, or making progress toward better decision making, as well as
techniques for stress management, mindfulness, and relaxation that can contribute to better mental health.
I am deeply committed to helping you harness your inner potential and to support you in your endeavour toward personal growth and wholistic well-being. In growing our own resilience and through conversations around mental health we also promote the well-being of others around us.
Use this month as an opportunity to reflect and consider what skills and strategies would support your personal growth and mental health. I’d love to help so reach out, if I can be of support.
