So you have a vision for something you really REALLY want to do. You are excited and scared all at the same time to be setting off in this new direction. Before you go, you can look at what might just get in the way of making it happen. What pirates might turn up to sabotage your ship?

There’s self doubt she might show up, she is pretty loud and relentless and when she gets a hold on you it can be mighty hard to throw her overboard and keep going. Own your choices, spare the excuses, make a stand for what’s important, and give up on the stories that suggest you are not good enough, and dare to believe you have everything it takes to create a life that truly matters to you.

There’s “judgment”, she’s really harsh, she will make you worry about what others might be thinking about you. Opinion of others may also hijack your progress, so you need to embrace what makes you different, other people wont value how special you are unless you value yourself. Own your individuality. When you embrace who you truly are, you enable others to do the same. Value your opinion above all others. If you don’t approve of yourself, no amount of praise will be enough. Let go of your concern of what others think and these pirates will be blown away with the wind.

Fear may be another companion on your journey. Just acknowledge her because when you acknowledge her you dilute her strength. When you take action despite fear being with you, you diminish her power and amplify your own.  Imagine your worst fear come true – ask yourself – what’s the worst that could happen? Breathe deeply into it. Imagine yourself in the midst of the situation feeling strong and secure in yourself, and step right past her.

Failure might turn up too, and if she does, you know she might turn up a number of times, make her welcome, because she has a great friend called learning who will be really helpful in helping you to progress forward.

Like an explorer you are mapping your route as you go. If you go in the wrong direction you will probably know. Be careful your head doesn’t hijack your heart, and listen to your body. It deserves your attention and acts as your compass. If it doesn’t feel right it probably isn’t. If it does it probably is. Your gut rarely lies. Be open to feeling it and have the courage to act on those feelings.

Focus on what you want, because what you focus on will expand. When you focus on your vision, what it will look like and feel like, you will create such a great energy that will help carry you through the perils that you may come across. Remember that what you put in you’ll get back, so look for where you can focus your attention, have a good hard look, what is it, that you want more of? Focus and sail forward with a fair wind and start living your vision.
